Born 11/11/1952 in Helsinki Finland (where he maintains citizenship), Antero migrated to Toronto Canada at the tender age of three with his younger brother Timo, his mother Kaija and his grandmother, Rakel. On May 23, 1961 the Alli family migrated further westward to Los Angeles where Antero spent seven uneventful years in junior and senior high schools. In 1970 he left home and arrived in the San Francisco Bay area where, over the next thirteen years, he wrote, directed and produced a series of experimental theatre works.
Inspired by the work of Polish theatre director Jerzy Grotowski, in 1977 Antero began developing a paratheatre medium combining techniques and principles of physical theatre, dance, voice and Zazen meditation (documented in three videos, "Crux", "Archaic Community", "Orphans of Delirium" and his book, "Towards an Archeology of the Soul"). His manifesto, "State of Emergence", outlines his philosophy of paratheatre and culture. Antero is the founder and artistic director of ParaTheatrical ReSearch, an ongoing group process dedicated to furthering the development of paratheatre in private and public arenas.
In 1980 Antero began a serious study and practice of astrology, writing numerous ground-breaking astrological essays published worldwide. Between 1984 and 1988 Antero lived in Boulder Colorado where he married Christi Cashner, birthed a daughter (Kallista) and then, got divorced. In 1988, Antero left Boulder for Seattle Washington with Julliard dance grad Camille Hildebrandt to continue developing his paratheatre projects. In early 1991, Camille gave birth to his second daughter Zoe who unexpectedly passed away twenty months later. This sudden loss and tragedy also spawned the genesis of a prolific filmmaking era that continues to this day.
Between 1991-95, Antero was editor/publisher of Talking Raven Quarterly, an iconoclastic literary journal featuring the writings of Hakim Bey, Robert Anton Wilson, Rob Brezsny and other rebel literati. Between 1992 and 2002 Antero co-produced and curated The Nomad Video and Film Festival with Camille Hildebrandt and then later with Sylvi Pickering. In the summer of 1993 Camille gave birth to their daughter Arizona; in the summer of 1995, Antero and Camille parted ways.
In the summer of 1995 Antero and composer/singer Sylvi Pickering joined forces and one year later, moved to Berkeley California and established Vertical Pool Productions, an intermedia arts group for solo and collaborative projects. Sylvi and Antero married in the year 2000. Antero currently teaches subject matter from his books ANGEL TECH and ASTROLOGIK at Maybe Logic Academy. He resides with Sylvi in Berkeley California where he continues his work in cinema, paratheatre, and astrology. He plans to publish his memoirs by the year 2012.
